“Why do you seek the living among the dead?”
It was a rhetorical question of an amused angel who asked Jesus’ disciples who came to the tomb, hours after Jesus’ resurrection. Still, living men are seeking their origin in dead things. As if the dead could rise to life. Do they? If so, the resurrection of a dead person that once was alive makes much more sense, and is more believable than a speck of dust to transform itself into a human being.
The quest for God and our origin has resulted in several beliefs. The evolution theory says we came from nothing, the universalists say that the universe created us, and the religious say God created the universe. The religious makes much more sense because we know there is a cause to an effect. The universalist is blindfolded yet they can feel the existence of a conscious being in the universe. However, the evolutionists know nothing about our origin because they defy science, logic, and reason. Because evolutionists say everything came out of nothing, life came from the dead and intelligence came from chaos.
Everything from Nothing
The claim the universe came from nothing is untrue, unprovable and impossible. It is a false claim because it has never been recorded that something came out of nothing. Imagine when you wake up in the morning and you find a massive stone in front of your house, and the scientist tells you it came from nothing. Many drug dealers would like to tell that to the police. It is unprovable because nothing itself doesn't exist. We can’t ask or investigate about nothing if it did anything.
It is impossible because nothing has no ability to do anything. Anything that brings something or someone out of nothing is called a magician or God. If nothing gave us something, then nothing will be something or someone. That is why the creation story makes sense. How can nothing made everything? The notion is more mystical than God. We can test the character of God or our origin by understanding creation. However, we will find out nothing about nothing.
There must be a cause for nature and life. Cause and effect are a universal phenomenon. Science would not have existed if there was no cause for the effects we see. That is why scientists investigate the cause of a result or an effect. No effect is without a cause or a reason. The leaves are moved by the wind. The same with the existence of the universe; it must have come from something. The universe is too big to come out of nothing. It was created under an extensively controlled situation to be an accident and contains too intelligently behaving living things that show purposeful design to be a product of chance.
Our source is from the invisible rather than nothing. The whole universe can vaporize into invisible atoms. What held them tight is the bond between each other. It is this bond that links the invisible innumerable atoms to build the visible universe. This shows us our origin is from the invisible rather than from nothing.
Some of the most complex and intelligent parts of us can only be seen through the microscope: things such as DNA and cells to name a few. Therefore, we cannot rule out the existence of intelligence beyond what we can see. And, we have not seen it all. It is a continuum to the invisible that dictates the way we are and how we function.
In the 1800s, people believed microorganisms came out of nothing because they saw them appear in their bread, milk, and fruits. Thus, they thought that they had little control over their spoiled food. This is because the theory of spontaneous generation or the rise of life from non-life, was prevalent in scientific arenas at the time. This belief was destructive to the health and economics of households. Food was wasted or eaten contaminated in some cases as the preventive techniques were ineffective. Their knowledge about contamination was limited.
In 1862, Louis Pasteur carried out an experiment to examine this theory. He prepared two bottles of syrup and boiled them to kill off any bacteria in them. Then he sealed off one and left the other one open. After a few days, he observed that the sealed bottle had no bacteria while the open bottle contained bacterial contamination. This proved that the bacteria in the open bottle syrup came from the environment. This was a groundbreaking discovery. It informed people to package, season and cool their food to save it from contamination.
This knowledge was applied in the preparation, processing and storage of food, milk pasteurization, medical equipment, sterilization and many effective and life-saving techniques that we rely on a daily basis. Inventions such as refrigerators were the result of this study. It is the belief that life comes from life against the “scientific” opinion that saved the lives of millions all over the world. It has protected humanity from hunger and many pandemics and became the pathway to the discoveries of many vaccines and antibiotics.
Louis Pasteur was a devout Christian who believed life was created and originated from God. This influenced the way he saw the world and how he studied it.
Posterity will one day laugh at the foolishness of modern materialist philosophers. The more I study nature, the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator. I pray while I am engaged at my work in the laboratory.
Therefore, he believed that nothing comes to life out of nowhere. Because of this he was able to shape the world for the better by saving lives and scarce resources such as food at that time. What we believe and understand about our origin makes an immense difference in us and others. In chapter 8, you will see that most of the scientists who made the most groundbreaking contributions for humanity were those who believed in God. Thus, the way we understand the world is vital in seeking to understand its facts, truths and how to save our lives.
