1. Identity

 

“I said you are gods” Jesus

 

 

Once, I asked God “Why is there so much suffering in this world?” Moments, maybe days later, my thoughts were flooded with names of individuals who single-handedly changed the lives of millions and billions of people. Some of these individuals are Nelson Mandela, William Wilberforce, Rosa Parks and Mother Teresa. These individuals exemplified one-person’s power to change the world without a sword. None of them were genius or more gifted than most people. They are not known for their gift and talent. Yet, they were able to accomplish great things for humanity.

     It seems the reason for the lack and the cause of our suffering is not from outside but within. It is not the lack of resources, but it was ignorance and indifference that caused it. Not that we are under-endowed in any area, but we are richly endowed and in oblivion. And our oblivion resulted from our wrong beliefs we have about our identity and our preoccupations with the minor things in life. 

     Our knowledge about our identity has much to do with our suffering. It is the people who don’t know their divine origin and their worth suffer much. Either abuse, being used by others or poverty are rooted in not knowing one's identity, worth, and potential.

     Jesus said, “you are gods” yet people didn’t believe it and lived in poverty, sickness, and war. In Africa, people were sitting on gold, throwing diamonds like rocks while living in a hut. In the Middle East, the Arabs were up and down the desert looking for water while trillions of dollars of oil spewed on their feet. In Europe, people were gnashing their teeth in the cold while great minds burnt in the dark. Since the beginning humanity had all, it needed under its feet and on its shoulders, yet people were plagued by hunger and lack of resources. It took centuries to believe in our identity and abilities and take full advantage of these resources.

     The most important knowledge you should have is, to know you identity, your origin or where life originated. In short you should know that you are created.
